WANTED: A Name for the Beechnut Lane stadium!
Pontefract Collieries are offering local companies the chance to have the Beechnut Lane stadium named after them for a period of 14 months, from October 2010 to the end of December 2011.
The club’s committee have decided that, rather than offer the naming rights for the ground to the highest bidder – as has been done in recent seasons – they will run a lottery draw for any companies wishing to enter.
Club Chairman Guy Nottingham said: “We like the idea of a lottery draw for a number 0f reasons. Firstly, it opens up the chance to have the ground named after their company to smaller, local companies who would not normally be able to afford such a high level of investment. It’s also a bit of fun.”
Tickets, which cost £25 each, entitle the purchaser for one ticket entered into the draw. The draw will be held in front of the main stand at half time during the match against AFC Emley on Saturday 21st September 2010. The lucky winner will have the ground named after their company (ie, “The ___________ Stadium, Beechnut Lane”) from October until the end of 2011. They will also recieve:
- A banner advertisement on the Main (www.pontecolls.co.uk), Juniors (www.pontecolls-juniors.co.uk), and Pirates (www.ponte-pirates.org.uk) websites, with combined hits in excess of 5,000 per month, together with their name on the Northern Counties Eastern League website.
- An advertising hoarding at the top of Beechnut Lane at the main entrance to the ground, displaying the company’s name, logo and contact details
- The main advertising hoarding at the ground, directly facing the main stand
- An advertisement in our monthly newsletters from October 2010 – September 2011 (dropped through 10,000 homes every month)
- Free entry for 2 guests to all home games, plus hospitality at all home matches
Losing ticket-holders will recieve the consolation of 4 complimentary tickets for any home game during the season.
Colls Treasurer Paul Shaw explained: “We believe that our club has much to offer any local business wishing to support the club through sponsorship or advertising. For a business seeking to develop visibility and raise awareness, while supporting the community, Pontefract Collieries are an excellent partner.”
The lottery is already creating a lot of interest, with several local companies having bought tickets already.
Any company, business or individual who wishes to buy a “Name the Ground” ticket should contact the Treasurer, Paul Shaw, on paul@pontecolls.co.uk or 07930 227656.
