Player profile: Lee Kelsey

Up until missing the top-of-the-table clash against Worksop, Lee Kelsey was an ever-present between The Colls’ sticks during the 2011-12 season, having been Simon Houghton’s final signing for the club.

Having made his debut under the gaffer towards the end of the 2010-11 season, “Kels” has been outstanding behind a solid back four this term, playing his part in the team holding the best defensive record in the division. His vocal leadership has been matched by some outstanding saves, and he has picked up Man of the Match trophies despite his chances being limited by most of the play being down the other end during the majority of Colls games.

Lee is also a really popular lad within the club, both within the dressing room and out of it. He has taken on the role of Events Coordinator for the first team players, and also takes regular goalkeeping training sessions for the younger ‘keepers at the club.

Lee is a full-time professional coach at Leeds United’s Academy, and currently studying for his UEFA B Licence, which will be an incredible achievement for someone of such a young age. Unfortunately, it will also require him to miss three games during the season, ruining an otherwise perfect appearance record.
