Player profile: Connor Rollinson
Connor Rollinson is one of the most talented young players ever to play for Pontefract Collieries. At the age of 18, Connor is already becoming established in the first team, having made his debut at the age of 16 under Simon Houghton.
Known by his team-mates as Comedy Connor, he is one of the best characters in the Colls’ dressing room. His attitude, both on and off the pitch, is second to none, and it is this determination that his manager feels will take him a long way in the game. Connor plays mainly on the right-hand side of midfield, where he is currently in a rich vein of form. However, he has also filled in at right back during the rare occasions when skipper Dean Twibey is absent, and has proved himself an able warrior in the centre of midfield, despite the fact that he is only “seven stone wet through”, to coin a phrase!
Connor has shown real determination to get into the side, both through his performances in training and for the reserve team. Despite having more senior players in front of him, he has worked hard to get his opportunity and, having been presented with an opportunity, has taken it with both hands, putting in several outstanding performances. Having narrowly missed out on the Man of the Match award against Emley, he finally secured a personal trinket with an outstanding performance in the narrow win at Rossington: a performance which displayed the tenacity and attitude – not to mention the ability – that define his game.
Connor has all the attributes to become a real Colls’ Legend.
