Player profile: Warren Redford

Warren Redford is one of the most talented players to have come through the Academy ranks at Pontefract Collieries, and has an exciting future in the game in front of him.

Warren made his breakthrough into Ponte Colls first team at the age of 16 and, still only 17 years of age and having made several substitute appearances during the current campaign, is now very much a part of Brendon Ormsby’s four-man strike force, together with Greig McGrory, Steve Lyon and James Hicks.

Warren is studying football and sports coaching at University under Ian Burchnall, and combining his course with playing for The Colls U19 Academy, Reserves and First Team. A classy striker, with a good touch and intelligent movement, Warren is adding the final components to his game under the leadership of Burchnall, Brendon Ormsby and his father John, who runs the U19s Academy at Ponte. Warren is performing wonders with his team-mates in the Academy, the young team (whose average age does still not touch 18) having won their first four league games in the Northern U19s Alliance and setting the pace at the top of the league.
