Ponte launch Technical Academy for youngsters

Pontefract Collieries have announced the launch of their Technical Football Academy, which will offer professional skills coaching for youngsters between the ages of 6 and 14.

The Academy is being run by the club in conjunction with BOSS Active Sports, the coaching organisation run by Liam Ormsby. Sessions will run every Friday from 10th February, with two-hour sessions running from 7:00 to 9:00pm at Knottingley High School.

The Academy is the latest initiative aimed at helping youngsters in the area make the most of their potential, through focusing on technical skills such as first touch, dribbling and passing. Ormsby explains: “the key focus with young footballers should always be to make sure their technical abilities are developed. In competitive situations, it is easy to concentrate on tactics, formation and the like, but the really important thing, in terms of a player’s development, is to make sure they are fully equipped with the skills required of top players.”

Sessions cost £5 each, with sessions being run in blocks of 8 modules. Anybody wishing to book their child onto the Academy or discuss any further information should contact Liam on 07946 794989 or email on b.o.s.s.activesports@hotmail.com
