U12s maintain great form to see off Goole

Pontefract Collieries kept up their terrific form to defeat their old foes Goole Town by 7 goals to 1 on Saturday.

Ponte were quick out of the blocks, making a flying start when the referee harshly awarded an indirect free kick against the hosts for a back pass. Although the free kick struck the wall, the ball was struck into the net by Ty Bryer.

From this point Ponte played some outstanding football to tear the Goole defence apart. The second was added by Coby Glew, who put the finishing touches to a flowing move which started at the back and saw the team move the ball the full length of the pitch. The third goal was scored by Benji Morton who ran half the length of the pitch and score from an acute angle.

Goole tried to counter attack but were thwarted by the ever reliable defence of Mitch Mchugh, Ben Watts, Zak Wilkinson and Sam Wright. On the one occasion in the first half when they breached the defence keeper Bradley Watson pulled off a fantastic save to maintain his side’s three goal advantage.

At this point Ponte were playing some of there best football of the season and scored four more goals, two coming from the impressive Josh Powell, another from Bryer, and a trademark free kick from Wright.

The tireless Brogan Foster, Isaac Leach, Joe Winstanley, Fraser Walker and Morgan Parsons kept Ponte driving forward all game. Goole did get a late consolation from the spot after another harsh decision for handball.

Well done lads another brilliant performance ahead of next Sunday’s County Cup semi-final away at Sutton juniors.
